On this page, you will find the details for all songs and activities used in the Autumn Adventure, as well as a Teachers’ Checklist showing what you will need to take with you to sessions.
Remember, when delivering classes, we want them to be fun. When parents are enjoying themselves – they re-book! Make sure you are smiling and do throw in anecdotes of your own experiences with your own children – it makes us seem human and more relatable.
For each Adventure, parents get access to an Online Adventure and on that page, they get a weekly Information Topic. This week’s topic is
– so do point this out to parents and encourage them to discuss issues around this with other parents on our Private Facebook group.
Signing Activities
At most sessions, we will do some baby signs, and we use a mix of BSL, ASL and Makaton. For baby signing, it doesn’t really matter which signs parents use, so long as they are consistent, as they are not likely to be signing to anyone else, just to their baby. We are moving more towards Makaton signs and if there is not a video to accompany the sign you are learning, you can usually find it on You Tube.
Here are the details of the signs that you will need to learn for this session. You will have some signing cards that you can hand out to parents at the class. You may decide to put them on the mats so they have them for when they arrive, or you can hand them out as and when you get to the activity in the Adventure. Be sure to ask parents not to let babies eat the cards (as you know everything usually goes in babies’ mouths!) and make sure you warn them to take off the clips holding the cards together and put them somewhere safe where baby cannot get hold of them as they may present a choking hazard.
