There are currently four of us who make up the Twistin Tots Team.
We are always on the lookout for good people, with musical or Performing Arts backgrounds, so if you think you would like to join us, do get in touch!
Jacqui Davis, Founder / Owner
Mother of two, Jacqui Davis, founded Twistin Tots in June 2006, when she was pregnant with her second child. It started as one class in Belper on a Tuesday afternoon and has now grown to 11 Public classes and numerous Nursery and Pre-School sessions over five days in seven locations and three separate businesses (Twistin Tots, Twistin Tinies and Twistin Tikes)!
Jacqui says, “I had always wanted to be a teacher when I was younger, but my career path initially led me into education and training and later into Marketing (which comes in handy now too!). When I quit work in London and moved back up north from London in 2004, life was too quiet, so I founded Twistin Tots to give myself an interest outside of my two wonderful girls. Thanks to local support, and lots of hard work, it has gone from strength to strength; we now operate three types of classes for different ages, and are now expanding our offer further to include sessions at Care Homes. I love my job – it’s the best thing in the world to see all those tiny smiling faces looking back at me during classes!”
Jennifer Cross joined the Team in early June 2016. Jenny mainly focusses on Nursery sessions, although you may see her popping up at classes from time-to-time at Public classes when cover is needed. Jenny is currently on maternity leave.
“I am delighted to have joined the Twistin Tots Team. I have always had an artistic background having attended dance classes for many years from an early age and then travelled the world as a professionally trained Dancer. Once I was back on home soil I passed my knowledge and experience of the Performing Arts on to children of all ages as a Dance Teacher. I also have lots of experience of working with this specific age group of children having worked in Nurseries and Pre-Schools in the local area as a qualified Nursery Assistant.’
“After my daughter came along I decided to stay at home with her which was when I discovered Twistin Tots. I saw the excitement and enjoyment on my daughter’s face when she joined in Jacqui’s sessions and we have been attending regularly ever since.’
“I working with groups of children and sharing my lifelong passion of music, dancing, singing and education with you all – and most importantly having lots of fun…I hope you enjoy my classes!!”
Frankie Stainsby is our newest recruit and joined our Team in 2019 as maternity cover for Jenny, but is now staying on to deliver both Public and Nursery sessions. Frankie started working at nurseries just after Easter 2019 and quickly became well-loved! Frankie now runs our Spondon public class and delivers many sessions within nurseries. Frankie may pop up at other Public sessions when Jacqui needs cover for her classes.
Frankie graduated with distinction from M.A.D.D. College after completing a 3-year Musical Theatre course. She then went on to perform in different Musicals, Dance Groups and Music Videos here in the UK and abroad. Frankie then turned to teaching Dance and Drama within dance schools, primary and secondary schools. Frankie loves her job and has always been passionate about teaching dance and movement.
Frankie says, “In 2014 my daughter was born and that’s when I discovered Twistin Tots. I quickly fell in love with the programme and now love being a part of the teaching team. I enjoy taking part in sessions with my son alongside delivery the Twistin Tots programme in Nursery sessions. ”
Frankie’s qualifications include – I.D.T.A. Associate Ballet, Tap, Freestyle and Modern. Zumba, Clubbersize, ETM, Pilates and she is a Level 3 Personal Trainer.
Charlotte also joined the Twistin Tots’ Team in 2019 and delivers the majority of our Care Home sessions (Twistin Tots Golden). Charlotte is a musician who plays the flute and as well as her Twistin Tots work, also works for the Derby Music Partnership delivering classes within primary schools. She has Trinity College London Level 4 Certificate for Music educators, ABRSM grades 1-7 Flute, is Early Years music trained and holds an NVQ level 2 in Early Years and Education.
Charlotte says, “Back in June 2006 I was privileged to take my daughter (then 15months old) to Jacqui’s first ever Twistin Tots class. Both my children loved the sessions and my daughter – who is now 15 years old – still remembers some of the songs to this day! It’s been great to see how Twistin Tots has grown from strength to strength over the years and I feel so happy to have recently become part of the Team. ‘
“I have been working for Derby and Derbyshire Music Partnership for over 10 years – in many different primary schools across the county. Over the last couple of years especially I have been enjoying delivering music sessions with Nursery and Reception children. Alongside this I have been delivering interactive music sessions in care homes, including working with residents with Dementia. I am equally passionate about working with both young children and the elderly and the benefits of music to both these groups. When Jacqui approached me about the idea of running some Twistin Tots classes in local nursing homes, I jumped at the chance to combine both the very young with the elderly. For over a year now I have been loving running the sessions; the smiles on the residents’ faces when they see babies and toddlers singing and dancing is priceless. Also the toddlers also love helping the elderly residents with the props and making friends with them.”
