Twistin Tots began as a Tuesday session in June 2006, when Jacqui Davis, a former Marketing Manager in the Education and Training field, was six months pregnant with her second child.
Classes went from strength to strength and a Friday class followed a year later in October 2007, with a second Friday class – to meet demand – starting soon after in November 2007.
Successful classes have now been running in Matlock and Ripley since 2010 and Little Eaton since 2011. In 2013, two 2-hour Music & Play sessions were introduced in Ripley and Belper, combining the fun of the Twistin Tots music session with an additional open play session for the children for the same price. These classes have also proved to be successful. In 2015, classes started Darley Abbey.
In 2017, we received Gold Accreditation (the highest level of accreditation) from the Children’s Activities Association after all of our programmes were assessed to be of the highest standards by industry experts.
January 2014 saw the introduction of Twistin Tinies, a new class for babies aged 0-18 months and their carers. These sessions offered a baby bonding session; a fun musical activity session; and a chat session for parents and carers – with free tea and cake! In 2019, we purchased another successful baby business – Baby World and Me – and combined the two programmes into a fantastic new series of classes, using the best of both.
Our baby sessions now include a fun interactive themed music session and a break out Natural Exploration Area where babies can explore a number of sensory toys and activities and parents can chat, make new friends, and share experiences. Themes range from Enchanted Castle and Scarecrow Adventure to Australia and Ocean Blue. In 2019 out Twistin Tinies class was shortlisted into the Finals of the national prestigious What’s On 4 Kids Awards in London.
2015 saw the start of Twistin Tikes, our class for those children who can follow instructions and this was followed in 2018, by our intergenerational sessions – our Twistin Tikes Golden – where we visit Care Home and take our children and music programmes with us to entertain elderly residents.
