There are currently four of us who make up the Twistin Tots Team.
We are always on the lookout for good people, so if you think you would like to join us, do get in touch!
Jacqui Davis, Founder / Owner
Mother of two, Jacqui Davis, founded Twistin Tots in June 2006, when she was pregnant with her second child. It started as one class in Belper on a Tuesday afternoon and has now grown to 11 Public classes and numerous Nursery and Pre-School sessions over five days in seven locations and three separate businesses (Twistin Tots, Twistin Tinies and Twistin Tikes)!
Jacqui says, “I had always wanted to be a teacher when I was younger, but my career path initially led me into education and training and later into Marketing (which comes in handy now too!). When I quit work in London and moved back up north from London in 2004, life was too quiet, so I founded Twistin Tots to give myself an interest outside of my two wonderful girls. Thanks to local support, and lots of hard work, it has gone from strength to strength; we now operate three types of classes for different ages, and are now expanding our offer further to include sessions at Care Homes. I love my job – it’s the best thing in the world to see all those tiny smiling faces looking back at me during classes!”
Jennifer Cross joined the Team in early June 2016. Jenny mainly focusses on Nursery sessions, although you may see her popping up at classes from time-to-time at Public classes when cover is needed. Jenny is currently on maternity leave.
“I am delighted to have joined the Twistin Tots Team. I have always had an artistic background having attended dance classes for many years from an early age and then travelled the world as a professionally trained Dancer. Once I was back on home soil I passed my knowledge and experience of the Performing Arts on to children of all ages as a Dance Teacher. I also have lots of experience of working with this specific age group of children having worked in Nurseries and Pre-Schools in the local area as a qualified Nursery Assistant.’
“After my daughter came along I decided to stay at home with her which was when I discovered Twistin Tots. I saw the excitement and enjoyment on my daughter’s face when she joined in Jacqui’s sessions and we have been attending regularly ever since.’
“I working with groups of children and sharing my lifelong passion of music, dancing, singing and education with you all – and most importantly having lots of fun…I hope you enjoy my classes!!”
Lisa Leach joined the Twistin Tots team in January 2018 and runs the Spondon class on Monday mornings, West Hallam on Wednesday mornings, Little Eaton classes on Wednesday afternoons and Shirland classes on Friday mornings.
Lisa says “I live in Duffield with my husband and two daughters. I left my career in Marketing and Communications nine years ago to be a full time mum. Over the years I’ve taken on a variety of voluntary roles, including co-ordinator and treasurer of our local playgroup, committee member and Secretary of Duffield Preschool, and committee member and newsletter editor of the Amber Valley NCT… which is where I first met Jacqui!
“Being at home a lot of the time, it was really important for me to be able to get out the house and go to local baby and toddler groups where my girls would have a good time and I could meet other mums and carers. That’s why we enjoyed going to Twistin Tots, and it’s fantastic that I’m now running the sessions and get to see other children learning, playing and having lots of fun too!”
Frankie Stainsby is our newest recruit and joined our Team earlier this year as maternity cover for Jenny. Frankie started working at nurseries just after Easter and is going down a storm! Frankie may pop up at Public sessions when Jacqui or Lisa need cover; and we are hoping to persuade Frankie to stay when Jenny returns from maternity leave.
Frankie graduated with distinction from M.A.D.D. College after completing a 3-year Musical Theatre course. She then went on to perform in different Musicals, Dance Groups and Music Videos here in the UK and abroad. Frankie then turned to teaching Dance and Drama within dance schools, primary and secondary schools. Frankie loves her job and has always been passionate about teaching dance and movement.
Frankie says, “In 2014 my daughter was born and that’s when I discovered Twistin Tots. I quickly fell in love with the programme and now love being a part of the teaching team. I enjoy taking part in sessions with my son alongside delivery the Twistin Tots programme in Nursery sessions. ”
Frankie’s qualifications include – I.D.T.A. Associate Ballet, Tap, Freestyle and Modern. Zumba, Clubbersize, ETM, Pilates and she is a Level 3 Personal Trainer.
